Tide times at Causeway Lake

Monday 26 October 2026 · Australia/Brisbane

Heights and times on this page are a model estimate. The model reads the open-sea tide outside the lake's entrance, not the lake's own, so inside the lake the change comes later, the range is a fraction of the ocean's (often only a few centimetres), and wind and rain move the water more than the tide does. Use the BoM tide tables for Queensland for this area.

Best Tide State to Fish Causeway Lake

The mouth faces the open sea, so a strong north-easterly or a big swell pushes waves over the bar and makes the seaward side unsafe; the lake itself stays calm in almost any wind. The bigger the high tide, the stronger the run-through and the better the fishing. Clear water favours the lure fish; after rain the lake discolours and bait fishing for bream and grunter takes over. Night fishing on the top of the tide is a local favourite for jacks and barra in season.

What Anglers Target Here

Anglers fishing Causeway Lake typically time sessions around the tide for barramundi, mangrove jack, giant trevally, queenfish, and yellowfin bream.
