Bite Compass Premium

Every Species. The Whole Map.

Bite Compass is free to use. Forecasts, tides, your catch log and the map's wind, wave and tide layers are free, and they'll always stay free. Premium gives every fish you chase its own bite times, not just one, and adds the map layers that show where the water's worth fishing, with no ads. It also pays for what's next on the roadmap.

How to Fish It

Low light and night can be useful, with daytime opportunity too. The mild night boost draws on New Zealand and NSW tracking of movement, which disagree, rather than feeding. Night sessions can still be productive. Shore, estuary and offshore sessions differ; local aggregations, reef depth and spawning closures matter. Wind alone does not establish stirred-up feeding.

Why This Window

Dawn and dusk feeder with some after-dark activity; feeds on moving water. Comfortable in 15–22 °C water; temperature isn't factored in here, as sea-surface readings don't reflect the water it feeds in.

Based on its feeding habits and the moon, plus time of day, forecast wind, and forecast tide.

How to Fish It

This is group-level guidance for Platycephalus species. Identify the local fish: western estuary flathead differs from eastern dusky flathead. Daylight ambush fishing is the base; night fishing depends on local habitat and method.

Why This Window

Based on its feeding habits and the moon, plus time of day, forecast wind, and forecast tide.
