Is the Narrows really good for mulloway?

Yes — it's regarded as one of Perth's best land-based jewfish spots. The bridge pylons create ambush eddies where mulloway hold on the tide. October through March, after dark, with live or fresh bait on heavy gear is the standard recipe. Quality fish over a metre are caught here.

Where do I fish from at the Narrows?

The south foreshore at Mill Point Reserve and along the South Perth foreshore. Don't fish from the freeway side. Walk along the bank looking for pylon access points; cast parallel to the pylon line rather than out into the channel.

What's the best tide for the Narrows?

Tide changes — both incoming and outgoing — concentrate bait and fish. Slack water is slow. For mulloway, rising tides into dark around new and full moons are the most reliable windows.

Can I keep cobbler from the Narrows?

Estuary cobbler carry a 430 mm minimum and a daily bag of 8 (shared with catfish), with no closed season — verify current DPIRD rules before keeping any. Handle with care if releasing; the dorsal and pectoral spines deliver a painful sting.
