What fish can you catch at Darook Park Cronulla?

Sand whiting, dusky flathead, yellowfin bream, luderick and silver trevally are the staples, with tailor on the cooler water and squid over the seagrass. It is an estuary foreshore on Gunnamatta Bay, so the fish run smaller and cleaner than at ocean spots. Note that the whole of Gunnamatta Bay north of the Burraneer Point to Hungry Point line is closed to taking worms, nippers and shellfish, so bring your bait rather than pumping it. A NSW Recreational Fishing Fee is required to fish here, as it is anywhere in NSW saltwater unless you are under 18 or otherwise exempt.

Yes — it's one of the easier family spots in the Sutherland Shire. The big breeding females over 70 cm go back. Yellowfin bream are 25 cm on a bag of 10 shared with tarwhine, sand whiting 27 cm on a bag of 20 and luderick 27 cm on a bag of 10. A current NSW Recreational Fishing Fee receipt must be carried while fishing.
