The Cape Peron-to-Bird Rocks reef system pushes bait into the sound, which fills the inshore fishery.

Fish the edges around the ramp pylons and rock walls where current pushes through on the tide. Herring school under the lights at night — float a small bait or sabiki rig and you'll find them.
