Local Knowledge
Why locals fish this spot

Quinns Rocks is a rocky stretch of coastline between Mindarie and Two Rocks where reef and rock platforms extend from the shore. The rocks create structure that holds bait and predators in close, and the area gets less fishing pressure than spots further south because of the drive. There's an active local fishing club, which tells you the fishing is worth the trip.

How to fish this spot

Fish the wash zone over the rocks at dawn and dusk — cast metals into the white water and retrieve through the transition zone. The rock edges and channels between reef sections are prime ambush points for tailor and herring. For a less snaggy option, fish the sandy pockets between reef with bait rigs for whiting.

Common catches

Tailor (over reef in the wash, dawn and dusk), herring (reef edges, reliable), whiting (sandy pockets), Australian salmon in autumn, and occasional skippy.

Access and tips

The rocks are exposed limestone that gets slippery with weed and spray — proper rock fishing footwear is essential. Watch the swell and never fish the lower platforms when it's big. The drive from central Perth is 35–40 minutes, but the reduced pressure makes it worthwhile.
