Where are the Marmion Marine Park sanctuary zones?

Three small sanctuary zones (Boyinaboat Reef, Little Island, Lumps Sanctuary) are no-take and located near North Beach and Watermans Bay. Marmion Beach itself is open to normal recreational fishing. Verify boundaries on the official DBCA map before each session.

What's the best time for tailor at Marmion Beach?

Dawn and dusk on a moving tide, March through June. Cast 30–40g metals or ganged-hook mulies across the transition zones where sand meets reef. The bigger fish hold deeper than the bread-and-butter herring water.

Yes outside the afternoon seabreeze in summer. Mornings are the productive window. Snorkellers and kayakers use the marine park during the day; keep long casts clear of moving water users.

Is Marmion Beach good for whiting?

Yes — KGW and sand whiting hold year-round on the cleaner sand patches between reef sections. Fish a long-shank #6 paternoster with prawn or bloodworm on light gear, in the sandy gaps rather than over the reef itself.
